Sona Ray

A Ray of Hope

Sona was living a normal life, till that fateful day when she was diagnosed with Cancer. She didn’t lose heart but gained the courage to face it and continues to be strong. She is all set to checkmate cancer!

I, Sona Ray, born on 20th May 1978, have been diagnosed Cancer - CA Cervix II B. I am working as a Manager - Customer Operations Zonal Head, Kolkata in the telecom industry. It was on 24th June 2017, on my husband’s birthday when the doctor confirmed that the report is malignant. Yes, it was a shock, but we didn't lose heart. I celebrated his birthday exactly the way we did every year.
Thanks to the all consultants at the Tata Medical Centre, who gave me courage I was able to face it bravely. Courage does not always roar, sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow". My chemo-radiation has started from the 12th July'17. According to statistics 60% of cancer patients get 100% cured. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice.
I am working from home and also visit the office twice a week post treatment. I plan on continuing to do so. None of us get out of life alive, so be gallant, be great, be gracious and be grateful to the opportunities you have. My slogan for now is #CheckmateCancer!
